What motivated you to walk the Virtual Camino? What have you enjoyed? Did the COVID outbreak have an impact on your commitment?

The word “Camino” came to us via the movie “The Way” in 2011 and discovering that there was a pilgrim group in Victoria, B.C. We walked in 2015 and 2019. Two more trips were cancelled due to Covid.

When did you start using the Camino for Good app? How many miles do you average in a day?

Our virtual Camino Frances with Camino for Good started a year ago, followed by a virtual Camino del Norte with the same app. Average distances have been about 8 km (3 to 12 km). A few days, we didn’t walk. It took us 3+ months.

What are some other challenges you face while walking?

Other than hot (30 c.+) temperatures, there has been little to prevent me from walking. I have potential knee problems caused by some osteoarthritis. I have a new OA brace that helps with advancing age. DARN.

What has walking done for you spiritually? Mentally? Physically?

Good to stay fit and mentally satisfied. I do not follow any religious doctrines, but rather my own hybrid spirituality when walking in our nearby forest.

What was most enjoyable about the Camino for Good experience?

Keeps me in shape for when I can again walk in Spain or elsewhere.
