Lent mirrors the 40 days Christ spent in the wilderness, preparing His heart and spirit for His earthly mission. As we continue our Lenten pilgrimage together, we arrive at the final and most outward-facing pillar of this journey: Almsgiving—the Way of compassion, service, and love-in-action.

Throughout Christian history, Lent has been marked by prayer, fasting, repentance, and almsgiving. These four practices were never meant to be separate disciplines—but one unified Way of transformation. In the early Church, fasting wasn’t just about abstaining from food—it was a deliberate act of sacrifice so that what was saved could be given to the poor. It was never just about giving something up—it was about giving something away.

This week, we turn our focus to giving—not just out of abundance, but out of love. Almsgiving is the natural culmination of the transformation we’ve nurtured through Lent. It invites us to look beyond ourselves—to see the needs of others, to respond with generosity, and to reflect the mercy of Christ through meaningful action.

🚶‍♀️ Lent Is a Pilgrimage

Lent is a 40-day pilgrimage—a time to walk spiritually alongside Christ as He journeyed through the wilderness. Like the Camino de Santiago, Lent is a Way marked with challenge, humility, and holy preparation. The goal is not simply to arrive at Easter Sunday, but to arrive changed—to become more compassionate, more present, and more Christlike.

💡 What Now?

As you continue your Lenten Way, consider this:
Who around you needs a small act of love?
How can your fast become someone else’s blessing?

Let your Lent be more than introspection. Let it become action. Let it become almsgiving.

🕯️ Let Lent prepare you not just for Easter—but for a life of resurrection beyond it.

Buen Camino, fellow pilgrim.
