How to apply

Three steps

Download the applicationChoose Word if you want to type your answers, or the PDF if you would rather print it and write by hand. It is three pages and six questions.

Answer the six questionsA few honest sentences for each one is enough. Use your own words. Sign and date the last page.

Email it to JamesSend it to jgehrke@caminoforgood.com by 15 January 2027 — as the Word file, a PDF, or clear photos of each page. Put “Pilgrim Grant application” and your name in the subject line.

You will get a reply within a week to say your application has arrived. Only James and Angela read applications. The recipient is told by 1 February 2027, and if you are not chosen you will hear from us directly.

What the grant covers

The whole place, and the flights

Everything in the 2027 Camino Portugués fare — sixteen nights, breakfast every morning, fifteen dinners, luggage moved daily, the Costa da Morte day and hosting by James and Angela — plus your round-trip airfare from the United States. It does not cover passport fees, travel insurance, lunches, personal spending, or boots and clothing. If one of those would stop you going, say so in question 6.

Camino for Good is a for-profit company. The Pilgrim Grant is not a charity, and nothing about it is tax-deductible. Late applications roll into the following year rather than being thrown away.
